Toronto is not only getting its own symphony on Saturday night but a light show as well.
The CN Tower will present an evocative light show simultaneously with the world premier of Tod Machover’s “A Toronto Symphony: Concerto for Composer and City ” at Roy Thomson Hall.
The piece is a collaboration between Machover, an MIT professor, and the citizens of Toronto.
Those attending the Toronto Symphony Orchestra concert will get to see a broadcast of the light show on screens set up in the theatre. The public is invited to watch and listen to a webcast of the debut, which will also include graphics, videos and photographs of the creative process, at 9 p.m. at TSO. ca
The light show is designed by the MIT media laboratory’s Peter Torpey and will visually interpret the musical sounds of the symphony.
